Science for Our Nation's Energy Future

May 25-27, 2011 :: Science for Our Nation’s Energy Future, the inaugural Energy Frontier Research Centers Summit and Forum on May 25 – 27, 2011 at the Renaissance Penn Quarter Hotel in Washington, DC, will explore the challenges and opportunities in applying America’s extraordinary scientific and technical resources to critical energy needs. It will highlight early successes of the Office of Science Energy Frontier Research Centers, and promote collaboration across the national energy enterprise. The estimated 1000 participants will include leaders from science, industry and government; students, young researchers, and senior investigators; and members of the media. The Summit on Wednesday, May 25 will feature high-level talks by eminent leaders in science, industry and government, a poster reception and the screening of the winners of a Life at the Frontiers of Energy Research video competition.
At the Energy Frontier Research Centers Forum on Thursday and Friday, May 26 and 27, keynote speakers, parallel technical sessions, and poster presentations will encourage participants to delve into the scientific issues and promising opportunities of a wide range of topics. Focus areas will include electrical energy storage, fuels from sunlight, carbon capture and sequestration, catalysis, solar energy, solid state lighting, combustion, hydrogen, advanced nuclear energy systems, materials under extreme conditions, novel materials synthesis, and superconductivity.
