Acting Director, Human Resources and Administration Division
Helen DeHart is acting Director for the Office of Human Resources and Administration in the Office of Science at the U.S. Department of Energy. In that capacity, she leads a team of human resources and administrative support professionals providing a full range of human capital management and related services to the Department’s scientific research workforce. Ms. DeHart joined the Office of Science in 2009 as a Management Analyst, and was able to apply her extensive training and experience in organizational support services to develop new processes and guidelines for space management and other administrative functions.
Prior to joining the federal government, Ms. DeHart worked in the field of facility management and corporate office design. She spent the better part of a decade planning, designing, and overseeing the renovation of commercial office environments nationwide for major companies, including T-Mobile and Amazon.com. As the Manager of Strategic Space Services at RTI International in Research Triangle Park, NC, Ms. DeHart was responsible for providing space management and related services for over one million square feet of mixed office and laboratory space in addition to managing multiple related administrative support programs. Prior to that assignment, she served as Site Coordinator for Nortel Networks main US campus, providing strategic space management and facility planning for the company’s office buildings.
Ms. DeHart earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah Georgia.
