Lauren Smith joined the Office of the Deputy Director for Science Programs as a Program Support Specialist in February 2011 after supporting the Office as a contractor since May 2010. Her responsibilities include managing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program for the science program offices; processing and tracking relevant Executive and Congressional correspondence; maintaining various information archives; and providing administrative and programmatic support for the Office of the Deputy Director for Science Programs. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration with a minor in English from Trinity College in Washington DC. Ms. Smith previously held a high-level administrative management position with a real estate appraisal, acquisition, and property management company in Virginia, where she was employed for more than ten years. She has also served in the private sector as a licensed realtor for the states of Maryland and Virginia, a real estate appraiser, a recruiter, an employee specialist, and a research analyst. Ms. Smith has received several awards for outstanding customer service during her career. Her time is shared between DOE’s Washington, DC and Germantown, MD offices.
